Nitish Kumar Reddy sustained a side strain during a practice session in Chennai on January 24, 2025, effectively ruling him out of the entire five-match series. He is set to undergo rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

Rinku Singh, on the other hand, suffered a lower back spasm while fielding in the first T20I match against England, which took place in Kolkata. As a result, he will miss the second and third games of the series. The BCCI medical team is closely monitoring his condition, hopeful for a swift recovery.

To compensate for these absences, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has promptly named replacements. Shivam Dube has been called up to replace Nitish Kumar Reddy for the remainder of the series, while Ramandeep Singh will cover for Rinku Singh in the upcoming matches. This development comes at a crucial time as India looks to maintain their winning momentum in the series, having already secured a victory in the first match.

The updated squad now includes Suryakumar Yadav as captain, Axar Patel as vice-captain, and a mix of seasoned and young talents like Sanju Samson, Hardik Pandya, and Arshdeep Singh. The team will strive to adapt and overcome these injury setbacks as they face England in Chennai for the second T20I.

India’s updated squad for the T20I series against England: Suryakumar Yadav (C), Axar Patel (VC), Sanju Samson (WK), Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Rinku Singh, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammad Shami, Varun Chakaravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi, Washington Sundar, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Shivam Dube, Ramandeep Singh.
