Opting to bowl after winning the toss, DC’s seamers dismantled GG’s batting lineup early. Marizanne Kapp (2-17) and Shikha Pandey (2-18) struck in the powerplay, reducing GG to 20 for 4. Annabel Sutherland (2-20) further tightened the screws, leaving GG reeling at 60 for 6. A late fightback from Bharti Fulmali, who scored an unbeaten 40 off 29 balls, including two sixes and four fours, helped GG limp to 127 for 9. However, it was never going to be enough against a rampant DC side.
In reply, DC stumbled briefly with Meg Lanning falling for 3, but Jess Jonassen’s promotion to number three proved a masterstroke. The Australian all-rounder smashed an unbeaten 61 off 32 balls, peppering the boundary with ease. Shafali Verma supported with a brisk 44 off 27, ensuring the chase was a formality. GG’s Kashvee Gautam (2-26) picked up wickets, but it was too little, too late.
This clinical win boosted DC’s net run rate and confidence, while GG’s struggles continued, leaving them anchored at the bottom with just one victory in four games.
