The match began with GG struggling to post a competitive score, eventually getting bowled out for 120 in their 20 overs. MI's bowling attack was led by the dynamic Hayley Matthews, who claimed three wickets for just 16 runs, alongside Nat Sciver-Brunt, who contributed with two crucial wickets for 26 runs. GG's batting lineup couldn't muster significant partnerships, with Harleen Deol's 32 being the standout performance.

In response, MI's batting innings was dominated by Sciver-Brunt's aggressive 57 off 39 balls, including her second consecutive half-century in the tournament. Despite losing a couple of early wickets, including Matthews and Yastika Bhatia, MI managed to keep the chase in control, thanks to a 45-run partnership for the 4th wicket between Sciver-Brunt and Amelia Kerr. The latter's support ensured MI crossed the finish line with ease.

The victory marks MI's fifth consecutive win against GG in the WPL, solidifying their dominance in this matchup. With this performance, MI opens their account in the 2025 season, while GG suffers a setback, looking to regroup for their upcoming fixtures.
